Anusara
Yoga Weekend Workshop: Balanced Action
Leads to Freedom
Everyone is always talking about balance. Learn practical
ways to apply this beautiful concept in your Asana practice.
In Anusara Yoga, we seek to articulate nature's way in the
body. This is how Founder John Friend discovered the Universal
Principles of Alignment. They are not his principles or
the domain of Anusara Yoga. Instead, as the name states,
they are Universal. Come taste the harmonious efficacy of
these principles as they bring new insight into your yoga
practice both on and off the mat.

7.30pm
– 9.30pm: Aligning with the Natural Harmony
Yoga's perspective on the Tao
In this
session we will explore how our intention to connect to
the bigger Way can create a more refined and purposeful
practice. By opening to something bigger, we can align with
the flow of the dynamic forces that are constantly at play
within and around us. We will explore this intention through
a dynamic mix of fluid, flowing asana.

10am – 12pm: Back Bend Bliss
In this
workshop session we will celebrate the opening of the Heart
as embodied in the class of poses known as back bends. Learn
how the Universal Principles of Alignment create optimal
alignment in the body to move your body safely into deeper
back bends.
2pm
– 4pm: Hip Harmony
Hip
openers and forward bends create a deep release in our Being
if done correctly. Learn how to practice this class of poses
to optimize pranic flow in the body. Particularly, we will
release excess vata (wind element) in the body that can
cloak the power of awareness in a fluttering of thoughts
and emotions.

10am
– 12pm: Eye of the Tiger Practice
Today
we play with a mixed practice of standing poses, inversions,
hand balancings and back bends to awaken the inner Tiger.
Get ready to deepen your practice in this intensely-playful
session.
2pm
– 4pm: Taming the Tiger
As with
yesterday's afternoon session, our intention is balance.
After a strong practice in the morning, we conclude with
more cooling asana, including hip openers, twists and forward
bends. We will assimilate our new understanding as we transition
from the workshop environment back to the 'world'.
